Microsoft also fucked over other operating systems with things like "modern standbuy" so I'm not surprised that ACPI is also under this same boat. Nvidia has basically disrupted the entire Linux desktop for years upon years because they wanted to do graphics bs their way instead of the way the community accepted (in regards to wayland) until the Mesa people just built the userspace driver themselves with NVK and Red Hat engineers have to build their own driver.
This only highlights the fact that the entire field of computer science is gatekept by the US MIC for geopolitical leverage and immense financial gain and that we should work hard to combat it with any means possible
