...are people having mental health crises because they're becoming obsessed with ChatGPT, or are they becoming obsessed with ChatGPT because they're having mental health crises?

I'm inclined to believe the latter. But fuck me, when most of my countrymen read at a 6th-grade level, at best, I have no idea what's happening. My daughter is entering 7th-grade next year, top of class in reading she says. I am horrified to think that her intellectual level is above that of most Americans.

I honestly think this exact same phonomenon has been happening for decades/since time immemorial to billionares/the vastly rich.

Now we have sycophancy and dillusions of grandeur for the every-man!

I wanted this to be a strategy article and less of a bug report. Our cultures are not immunised yet to thought dependency and parasocial training.
