Context: Sultan Selim I (Ottoman Empire) and Shah Ismail I (Safavids) supported different branches of the Islamic faith and went to war over Safavid advances into Ottoman territory. The two had exchanged numerous angry letters and gifts.
According to one story, Ismail sent Selim a box of shit and Selim returned a box of Turkish delights, stating “We serve what we eat.”
In another, Selim had sent Ismail a set of women’s undergarments, suggesting that because Ismail was too afraid to meet him in battle, this was what he should be wearing instead :3
No wonder Selim was Mehmed the Conqueror’s grandson, he inherited the taste for femboys.
