I'm surprised Lewis isn't on that list. What is his record?

Not really that surprising. Rosberg, Vettel, Verstappen were always closer to him than Perez is to Verstappen now such that the lead would change regularly after initial pitstops. The gulf between Red Bull and the rest of the field and between VER and PER is just that big.

Not sure - but he did always have better teammates even when Mercedes was this dominant.

I suppose you're right. A string of especially bad performances from Perez certainly helped Max with his streak.

Insane consistency from Max, hell of a streak.

I can't wrap my head around this metric

I believe it means that since the last 10 laps in Miami he has lead every single race lap until today. Not sure tho, that's what I understood.

[โ€“] ryannathans@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah, so in races, he was continuously first? Excluding sprints/qualifying?

[โ€“] wason@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Correct. He didn't start 1st in Miami but he finished 1st and from then on he started 1st and finished 1st until today that he lost his streak to Leclerc for a few laps.

Makes sense! Cheers

That's quite an impressive feat; although how was Senna's car compared to the field in his day? I really need to go back and watch some of the classic seasons.

The McLaren won all races except one in 1988, and the race that they didn't won, Senna was crashed by a lapped car when he had a very big lead.
