As a company that was forced to realize their profit model was and alone....
It was simply inevitable that "Don't be Evil" become "Evil R Us".

I don't know if 'simply' is the word I'd use here, but there's clearly been some unforced errors on Google's part with regards to search
I'm too lazy to find the article (google the man who ruined google search, think it was ed zitron's blog) but TL;DR they made the key metric for search users something like ad impressions per search or something, whereas it used to be how fast you found what you were looking for. It was a deliberate decision, so I'd say 'simply' may just be the word here.
Splendid.
Regular Search: Full of AI Slop and SEO bullshit
AI Slop Websites: Visited by AI Crawlers to gather info
People: Preferring AI search to visiting websites due to insane amounts of AI slop websites hindering the ability to find information
Writers: Not writing articles because too few people will read them. Mostly hit by AI Crawlers
AI Search: Degrading due to AI slop
Result: Me touching grass until further notice
Or: just make Wikipedia.org your default search. 90% of the time Iโm looking for the wiki page anyway
Duckduckgo and bangs. Or just add search keywords to your browser.
Where are the sample queries and corresponding results to demonstrate that it works well? Oh there aren't any?
this isn't boiling the frog - it's freezing the frog.
