Does anyone in the UK even want anything to do with this mess?

[โ€“] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago

No. That's why they read the guardian....๐Ÿ˜Š

The UK seems to speed-run everything the US does politically, so "anyone" probably means a notable percentage of the population.

Today's council elections give a hint: Farage's Reform PLC blew many safe Conservative and Labour seats out of the water. You could fit a cigarette paper between the policies and actions of both parties right now, so they'll likely both be falling over themselves to work out how to attract the fash vote. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Today's probably that grifter's biggest success to date, and likely all strategised by the Heritage Foundation.

That's like saying "oh, I miss my tumor, pls put it in again doctor"

[โ€“] huppakee@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Except the tumor also had more sense of humor and a better taste in music. Plus with the tumor comes ~~economic stabilty~~ a less extreme cost of living crisis and ~~free healthcare~~ affordable doctors.

I think you misunderstood which country I call a tumor lol

Right, totally depends on who would ask for MAGBA. But UK did invite them to the common wealth, so they are kinda the ones screaming the loudest so your pov makes more sense lol

sauce?

To be fair there is no credible source that this is true, there is only speculation since Starmer went to Washington, here is some sauce: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-commonwealth-offer-us-member-b2719470.html

a media outlet reported that King Charles III intends to extend an offer for the United States to join the Commonwealth of Nations.

The King is reportedly preparing to extend the offer of โ€œassociate membershipโ€ in the voluntary association of 56 nations, most of which have history as former British colonies. Trump, it seems, is open to the idea.

No offence to the Brits, but there are far better countries in Europe for the US to be dissolved by and absorbed into. Think of Boriski Tories and Trumpets joining forces, their history of Thatcher and Reagan and the neoliberal hellscape they unleashed on the world. I just don't see Europe benefiting.

Might be able to get behind MADN (Make America Danish Now) or MAFN (Make America Finish Now). Though again I don't see what they would get out of the deal besides a .33% rise in right wing nutjobs and another .33% rise in neoliberals to drag them down. I really just don't see Europe benefiting.

MAFN (Make America Finish Now)

As a Finn, no thank you. You're free to visit and study on how actual democracy works (with it's flaws obviously) and implement it on your side of the pond however you see fit. Maybe even get our government involved to send some ambassadors to help you with that. But that's it, we're quite happy as we are.

Kind of what i was trying to get at, most of the countries in Europe have dignity and wouldn't the majority of the US fucking up their functional governance. And the US joining GB would be just a horrible hodgepodge on your doorstep figuratively.

To be honest I'm happy the way you are too. I wouldn't want my countrymen fucking that shit for you either.

MAAN (MAKE AMERICA ALBANIAN NOW)

Ps. Albanian is not in the eu yet I think it is in the process of joining.
