In Princeton, West Virginia, there's an old amusement park that looks like it was frozen in time. It's called Lake Shawnee, and its story is more tragic than fun.

The land has a dark past. Back in 1785, a settler named Mitchell Clay lost three of his children here during a violent clash with Native Americans. Two were killed, and one was taken and burned at the stake. Clay retaliated, and the bloodshed left a stain on the land.

Fast forward to 1926, when a man named Conley Snidow built an amusement park on the same ground. It had a ferris wheel, a swing ride, and a swimming pool. Families came to have fun, but accidents started happening. Two children drowned in the pool, and in 1966, a little girl died on the swing ride after a truck backed into it.

The park closed in 1967, reopened briefly in the '80s, and then shut down for good. Later, archaeologists found Native American graves on the property—mostly of children. It seems the land was never meant to be disturbed.

Today, the rusted rides still stand, slowly being swallowed by nature. People who visit report strange occurrences. They hear children's laughter when no one is around. Some see apparitions near the old rides. Others feel a sudden chill or an overwhelming sense of sadness.

The current owner offers guided tours, especially around Halloween. Visitors often leave with unsettling stories. One person claimed to see a little girl in a pink dress near the swing set, only for her to vanish when approached. Another heard footsteps behind them, but no one was there.

Lake Shawnee isn't just abandoned—it's haunted by its history. If you ever visit, tread carefully. The past doesn't rest easy here.
