Anarchism is a social movement that seeks liberation from oppressive systems of control including but not limited to the state, capitalism, racism, sexism, speciesism, and religion. Anarchists advocate a self-managed, classless, stateless society without borders, bosses, or rulers where everyone takes collective responsibility for the health and prosperity of themselves and the environment.

Valeriano Orobón Fernández, born on this day in 1901, was a Spanish anarcho-syndicalist theoretician, trade union activist, translator, and poet who wrote the lyrics of the revolutionary song "A Las Barricadas".

Orobón believed in the organizational power of unions, believe that they would have a major role in reorganizing society in a more libertarian fashion. Orobón was also strongly opposed to the communist (i.e., Soviet) ideas in Spain during the Spanish Civil War.

Shortly before his untimely death from tuberculosis, Orobón wrote the words of "A Las Barricadas" to the tune of "Warszawianka 1905 roku", itself a well-known Polish revolutionary song. The anti-fascist tune became the anthem of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT), and one of the most popular songs of the Spanish anarchists during the Civil War.

Dumb question but I kind of want to better understand liberals, what’s everyone’s theories on why the far-right politicians are given a lot of attention in the “liberal” or “centre-left” media? Here on Hexbear we deal with fascists in a simple and very effective way: ban them with very little word and either respond with “post hog” or PPB, nothing they can really work with.

(mostly useless observances I’ve made)

They knew how to deal with Corbyn by simply not talking about him so people had to go out of their way and google, and BBC tacitly endorsed Boris Johnson over Corbyn anyways when they did have to talk about him (even at one point calling the Tories ‘we’.).

However, they clearly don’t like Trump or Farage (who are an active threat to them), but constantly report on how they’re all big fat meanie heads and how they’re so scared of them in a naked display of journalistic malpractice and makes them stronger and more legit. Don’t feed the troll and all.

So wouldn’t it help THEIR candidates if they just kept Harris or Clinton on the centre stage? IIRC The people’s party in Canada is still borderline irrelevant and most Canadian hogs are perfectly happy with the conservatives and I don’t think the media discusses how Maxine Bernier is a big scary meanie-head! The only explanation I have is that these liberal parties are really just meant to be occasionally given figurehead power so they can take the fall whenever more right-wing parties come up, but if that’s the case you’d see a lot less effort on their part.

hey guys I'm definitely not doing my taxes at the last minute and anyway I just noticed my W2 for this year and last year say "Less Other Cafe 125 $x" and it's detracting $x from my gross pay

  1. what the fuck is that and

  2. is it fucking me or helping me (I think it's helping me? since it's lowering my reported gross pay, but my taxes paid stay the same, so it increases the amount I've overpaid?)

I worked very hard on a spreadsheet project today. I used a bunch of appscript to keep track of a bunch of data and make charts based off of said data. 1500 lines of code with like 300 of them written today. I probably spent every bit of 10 hours today.

cant sleep because i keep thinking about bookbinding... insomniac researching about book printing and binding in the hopes of finding the most cost-effective, sure-to-not-fail, durable way of printing my own books is a recipe for grave disappointment... If only I had the money to just get on with it, then I wouldnt need to print my own books because I could buy them

Dumb thought: The Larouchites and Patsoc crowd are basically just doing an edgier version of what guys like Matt Yglesias do in selling conservative policy as left wing policy.

Just remembered this time in 7th grade gym class where the substitute gym teacher straight up booed me and called me names for making a really good play. Kickball was the game, bases were loaded or at least 2/3 were, i know it got some runs in. I bunted, there was no catcher cause it's kickball, strikes aren't a thing, no rule had been set for how far you had to kick the ball (until after I bunted). This grown ass adult straight up booed me and called me 'Cheapo' because apparently it was a cheap move. I assumed that aside from kicking a bigger ball we were following the rules of fucking baseball. Is there a MLB rule that you can only hit pop flies?

Edit: know what happened when the first guy ever bunted in normal baseball? I don't but considering it's still done it seems that history vindicated him if it wasn't seen as a sick new baseball move in the first place. They didn't make it against the rules cause it made the game cooler and didn't fuck things up too much know the other team knew it was an option.

The next year was worse cause I had a broken jaw but still had to sit there and watch. This little piece of shit who had been my friend but wanted to get in with popular kids ran up to about 3 feet away and whipped a dodge ball right at my face. Since he did just literally try to make me need surgery as well as have my jaw wired shut cause it was hairline at the time so I could at least open my mouth and ear soft foods. So...as anyone would I began beating the absolute shit out of this kid. Got suspended for a week. Which was a free week off school cause no way in hell were my parents gonna say I did the wrong thing cause I didn't.

Just finished all of Professor Messer's CompTIA Security+ videos! Now time to review my notes, make flash cards, memorize them, take practice tests, review the problem areas, then pass that test!

Finally watch the venture bros movie, I am sad we never got a final season but I do feel the movie did managed to wrap everything up and tie up all the loose ends. I've been a fan of that show not exactly from the start I'll admit but the way it changed over time and found itself glad I got to experience it all

Me totally not getting that Seal is flirting with me:

"Yeah, actually I found out that when it snows my eyes become large and the light that I shine can't be seen, my parents would lose me in parking lots whenever there were flurries. It was dangerous. They didn't have those toddler leashes back then either."
