I've seen tons of similar posts today on bsky and it's incredibly saddening. People are so desperate to feel like someone is fighting for them that they tie themselves up in knots to give meaning to something that makes no material difference whatsoever.

I took pity on him and didn't reply. All of this is so utterly pathetic.

I blocked the word "Booker" from my Bluesky feed once I heard about his stunt. But I'd need actual artificial intelligence to stop the flood of Lib BookerPosting. Here's a post I saw a minute ago.

Astonishing display of patriotism from the good senator from the great state of New Jersey.

I never say this about things but that first post is tagline material

For me the chef's kiss is MATTER. It's a kitchen coup.

It's so irritating that he's done this. The longest filibuster/senate address being Strom Thurmond protesting civil rights was such a clear indication of the general evil and waste of politicians. But now I'm going to have to see takes like this:

for the rest of time. He's not even doing a filibuster. He's just talking. Completely ineffectual nonsense, which does exemplify the Democratic Party, but not in a way where you can point to it and say 'this is bad, actually' to a lib.

Yes, this society is a spectacle. And that's GOOD.

This time would have been better spent shoving fascists into a pit

It moved me alright as my eye rolled at another liberal nothingburger money beg.

How do we get in on this grift? Could pay for a lot if mutual aid and the brunch libs are in a giving mood

The performance only matters materially in so far as making the democrats look better in the eyes of their supporters, and boosting Cory Booker specifically. It doesn't do anything other than making people feel like someone is doing something, even if they're not. Its a circus.

Nobody who isn't already high off liberalism gives a shit! Change whose hearts, idiots!

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Performances and symbols matter

No one beyond already democrat party brained libs will know and care about this. Even as a symbolic action it's worthless.

(Unless of course you consider it as what it actually was, a pitch for personal democratic party leadership)

Actually performance is when the game renders more frames per second
