For a second I was going to say it's like they're trying to make us hate them more somehow. Then I realized, yeah, that's probably exactly what they're trying to do. Antagonizing people into violence is the goal.

I'm not sure if it's to use it as an excuse to declare martial law, or kick off a civil war, or both? Idk I guess I've just been around enough passive aggressive pieces of shit in the past to recognize it when I see it.

[–] peteyestee@feddit.org 4 points 19 hours ago

This is for real.

[–] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

The shitty part is that they win either way. Either they get an excuse to escalate or they get to kill a potential movement in its crib. The people aren't exactly holding any trump cards here.

[–] AcidicBasicGlitch@lemm.ee 1 points 14 minutes ago

I think it's a bit more complex than that, because it still depends on the conviction.

Clearly he is not getting off from some kind of murder charge. I don't know much about the trial, but I would assume his lawyers are arguing a state of physical and emotional distress which would have kept him from being in his right mind when he allegedly shot the guy.

It would be a pretty bold move for a "free country" to execute someone like that. Not saying it wouldn't happen, but I know we're already being monitored for human rights violations by other countries. It would seem to be a weak hand to play, but then again strongmen usually play pretty weak hands when they want to prove how powerful they are. We have entire histories worth of atrocities to prove it.

He’s never getting out, and I’m sure he knows it. He carried his manifesto for days. He wants to make a statement.

Kill him and see what that gets the government. Middle aged white women are paying attention.

Pam Bondi should get the same sentence for Treason to America

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

i like how in a yotube video her pretending to be a christian, by wearing a cross makes her absolve from all the court rules for some reason, as a gotcha moment for right wingers. something along the judge wants her to take it off, because it gives the wrong message.(i dint click on the video)

[–] Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Dig two graves Ms. Bondi.

[–] PeterisBacon@lemm.ee 7 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Why arent they seeking it for the dude who stabbed the Cashapp CEO numerous times

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 19 hours ago

UHG was one of trumps donors, cashapp, maybe?

[–] pr0sp3kt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 1 day ago (4 children)

They are so fucking scarred, they want to give a message.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 17 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

100% this. We have actual murderers in prison for life who have killed several people. They’re still here and will be until they die.

This is 100% a message that rich people’s lives are more important than any of our lives. And they’re willing to kill to prove it.

[–] CaptPretentious@lemmy.world 16 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's not sending the message they hope it is.

[–] peteyestee@feddit.org 3 points 19 hours ago

Plot twist; they are trying to make more Luigi's.

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 13 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Not sure martydom has been historically successful from the point of view of the oppressor

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 3 points 21 hours ago

people largely forgot about navalny, he fear if he stayed out of russia too long, his martydom would not be useful, and largely been ignored since his death. MSM is in cahoots with putin indirectly, so they wouldnt report him anyways.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (2 children)

Scarred or scared?

I think it's both.

If you could make God bleed, people would cease to believe in Him. There will be blood in the water, the sharks will come.

Pam bondi can suck an egg

[–] npcknapsack@lemmy.ca 51 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Can't say it on Reddit, but I hope that they can't find a jury who would convict him.

Kill 24 normal citizens in a mass shooting in a Walmart, plea deal. Allegedly Kill 1 billionaire, death penalty

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

NYC doesnt have death penalty, so its unlikely he will get one. they want at least life or manslaughter charges on him.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 18 hours ago

He's been indicted on state charges in NY, and also Federal charges, so he will be tried twice for the same crime, no matter what the NY trial decides. He can't be executed for the NY state charges, but he can be executed by the Feds.

So conceivably he could be found not guilty in NY, and still get executed by a Federal court.

In Texas, you can shoot a guy in a wheelchair in between child molestations and the Governor while shake your hand while he pardons you.

I don't think he was a billionaire. But his job was a nasty one that did please billionaires.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Indications seem to be high 8 to low 9 figs. There is a fucking ocean between "not billionaire" and "average guy". Also, obligatory fuck Brian Thompson.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 18 points 1 day ago

Fuck him indeed. He got what was coming to him. I had no idea who he was until he was shot and I instantly hated him.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

thompson was a low level ceo, but still he implements the denial policies. the head ceo is ANDREW WITTY, and the bod is hemsely, both british. WITTY made those asinine comments about the healthcare after his death

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

He was nasty. No one who isn't could have done that job.

The death of one, a tragedy. The death of millions, statistics.

[–] fullsquare@awful.systems 36 points 1 day ago (1 children)

death of millions for profit - solid business practice, congratulations and see you again at next shareholder meeting

hmm so death is an appropriate consequence for killing people, huh. so she's admitting that Luigi allegedly delivered justice, actually.

I think it's inappropriate for a lawyer to use stage names though. I mean, Pam Bondi? come on.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

pam, bondi who recieve releection bribe from trump to drop her case against him about trump university.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 18 hours ago

This is important. When Trump was starting his first run for president, he was fighting his many state lawsuits for his Trump University fraud. She was the Florida AG, and they were about to levy a $25 million fine against him. He had a meeting with her, he donated $25K to her reelection campaign, and she dropped the case, amd became a supporter.

That let him know the kind of AG she was, so he gave her the Fed version. He WANTED a corrupt AG that he can bribe.
