Remember that bit in Atlas Shrugged when all the scientists ran away because the government was doing "radical communism"
Randians get fuckt
Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Scientists also aghast that Nature wants to charge them $12k to submit a paper
the other 25% are what we in the science biz refer to as "oblivious navel-gazers".
Or Chicago-educated economists.
They said scientists, economists are not on the list
Touche
Or excited about the prospect of phrenology making a return to the mainstream US education system.
I'm still polishing my textbook rewrite!
The other 25% probably makes like $40k
Or in on the grift in the MIC business.
Definitely some scientists in the MIC but that's also a lot of different types of engineers as well.
I imagine a bunch of the 25% also work for industrial agriculture, oil and natural gas extraction and pharmaceuticals.
How many of them would actually do it though
Keep in mind many of these scientists moved here from another country, or moved from coast to coast. It's a pretty mobile group
Scientists are a lot like DnD parties, it seems.
It is nearly impossible to get them all into a room together with any frequency.
NPR reports that some are
Jennifer Jones, director of the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, tells NPR that she has spoken with scientists, some of whom currently work at federal agencies and others who have been fired. Many of them say they are looking for opportunities abroad due to a lack of options for conducting their research with the government or at universities, Jones says.
If Europe was smart they'd build a whole new city, a "city of science" for highly qualified US immigrants.
Of course, they'd first have to go through reeducation camp haha ^/s^
from the looks of things, theres a real risk they cozy up with us oligarchs.
Euro BioShock
I know, it's me, I'm the 75%.
As someone graduating with a biology degree, that'd be ideal, but realistically that's not going to happen
