An anecdote that illustrates the biggest problem for me with these. I'm portuguese and I've never even heard of Bi-office, let alone see them in stores.

There has to be an incentive for shops to market these (other than the tariffs). We need euro or EU markings.

Caran d'Ache are Swiss.. Their pens are really nice. Leuchtturm 1917 (German) and Moleskin (Italian) make good notebooks (the paper kind)

Bahco is European. And is one of the best tools in quality. Bosch it depends where it was manufactured could be just ok, or the worst shit you can buy .

@Blaze This is a French one I found, although this might fall under art supplies. https://mastodon.social/@BuyEU/114233970162938359

This is notably missing Husqvarna which makes great saws and stuff.

[โ€“] calisti@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

How is Tesa missing here?

don't buy cocraft. its just no-name chinesium tools with a swedish label.

[โ€“] Creat@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Scheppach may be German, but their products are all generic, cheap, white label Chinese designs. Not sure that counts.

I'm aware most if not all of these companies produce in China, but at least it's their designs in many cases.

[โ€“] klangcola@reddthat.com 3 points 3 days ago

Same for Cocraft as far as I know (Clas Ohlson white label)

As an American electrician, yall have some good tools. Knipex and Wiha are both really nice hand tools. I sadly just invested in a bunch of Dewalt power tools a few months ago (the impact is already fucked, what's up with that? I didn't even drop it. My Milwaukee impact has been going strong for years and has survived multiple 30'+ falls...), it's just a lot easier to find batteries etc, but maybe down the line I'll update.

I'm on the fence with dewalt. Their tools are pretty cheap in comparison, but the batteries seem to be hit and miss. One hand drill i had i absolutely abused for years. It still works, it's just not a precision tool anymore. Like i used it as a concrete mixer, and to drill 200mm holes into wooden floorboards. Bosh is a absolutr winner for me. I had hilti power drills before and they were "good" but super expensive. Also i had one drill that i had for like 3 years, but only used it like 4 times to drill holes into concrete. It stopped working and i gave it to a hilti guy to see what's up. He said it never got serviced and it should be every year, and the repair was more expensive than the new bosh drill i bought. That drill i used for 10 years or more now. I use and abuse it almost every day, it has never seen a drop of oil or a service or anything. Also +1 for knipex. At this point everything not knipex is a waste of money to me. I already had a lot of knipex stuff, then i saw the video from the torque test channel (i think). And knipex was the only tool that passed the test.

We call em "DeFault" for a reason. Ubiquitous and reasonably cheap. Like you said though, hit or miss on quality. My porto-band and SDS are doing great at least.

I do like every Hilti I've used but you're not wrong on cost. I might invest in some with a battery adapter...

But yeah just about all my hand tools now are Knipex or Klein, and even Klein's got me looking at it sideways. They're not what they were two decades ago.

[โ€“] Squizzy@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Buy tbe adapter, my dyson runs on a 5amp dewalt I picked up from work

[โ€“] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 4 points 3 days ago

Not European, but I use mostly Makita tools. Anything not American is a winner.

[โ€“] twinnie@feddit.uk 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Didnโ€™t realise Bahco were American.

[โ€“] klangcola@reddthat.com 3 points 3 days ago

Ugh, me neither. Bought by Snap-On according to Wikipedia:

Bahco is a Swedish brand within the hand tool industry, which is now part of SNA Europe, part of Snap-on.

[โ€“] j4yt33@feddit.org 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Sad to see Leitz on that list

[โ€“] calisti@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago

not to see?

[โ€“] Libb@jlai.lu 5 points 3 days ago

To the list one could add the French Clairefontaine and Rhodia (paper, notebooks)

I'm not a pro of these, but Isn't there also that hardware line of power-tools from Lidl, 'Parkside'?

[โ€“] Aidenwill@jlai.lu 1 points 2 days ago

Isn't Oxford French ? (Thought it was British before a quick search) The

[โ€“] SW42@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Einhell make some Great Budget Tools.

[โ€“] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I used to hate einhell, but they came a long way.

[โ€“] SW42@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Same here. I like the battery system they have that literally fits on almost anything they make nowadays. Very diverse range, good bang for the buck.

[โ€“] gabelstapler@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago

Shocked that Leitz is no longer German, but an US company. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

@Blaze: are doing anything else that posting in BuyEuropean? ๐Ÿ˜‰

[โ€“] lud@lemm.ee 1 points 3 days ago

I didn't know Stiga was acquired by the Italians.
