We call em "DeFault" for a reason. Ubiquitous and reasonably cheap. Like you said though, hit or miss on quality. My porto-band and SDS are doing great at least.

I do like every Hilti I've used but you're not wrong on cost. I might invest in some with a battery adapter...

But yeah just about all my hand tools now are Knipex or Klein, and even Klein's got me looking at it sideways. They're not what they were two decades ago.
