So I never understood the whole “sending tanks into Hungary” thing as it’s never been explained before, just mentioned here and there by anti-communists. Now I see it wasn’t done because the Soviets hate freedom.
It's anger-inducing how capitalist bootlickers openly fantasize about murdering communists, but the fucking planck-length of time that socialists rightfully justify stopping fascist coups, we're somehow the bad guys. Fuck that.

Kiraly, President, Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation, Inc., and offered the services of the MDC in arranging meetings and discussions with other anti-CASTRO organizations and the Hungarian Freedom Fighters. The Hungarian Freedom Fighters were (deleted) was interested in information on the MDC before granting approval for contact between the two organizations.
The redacted version, but the newly released file is unredacted and unambiguously states that they were CIA sponsored

I’m not posting this to disprove anything, I just thought it was important to share in case anyone wanted to add more.
The logic of the CIA didn't anticipate the exact timing is evidence that they didn't help create it doesn't really hold. There are plenty of historical examples where the people CIA funds end up taking initiative all on their own.
