Rules:

  1. No sympathy with the enemy or its collaborators. Russian and North Korean soldiers are fascists committing a genocide. Remember that.

  2. Objective and factual reporting from the battlefield, parliaments, etc. is encouraged, even if it's about bad news for Ukraine.

  3. Insulting Putin and his cronies (Orban, Trump, Musk,...) is absolutely fine but don't use homophobic or similar language against them. Members of the queer community don't deserve to be compared to that scum. Also: Putin disciminates against gay people. If you do as well, you're part of the problem.

  4. Don't insult or use overly harsh language against other commentators.

  5. Don't submit direct links to Twitter/X and Truth Social posts. You may: Post a screenshot + quote, do a full quote and name the author, direct link to a proxy service like xcancel.com, deep link an image embedded in a tweet because Lemmy will cache a copy.

FYI - Telegraph is a right wing newspaper. The way this is worded sounds like a Kremlin talking point designed to make Ukraine sound untrustworthy. What actually needs to happen is for the invaders to leave Ukraine and piss of back to Russia.

FYI - Telegraph is a right wing newspaper.

The Telegraph is renowned for their Ukraine reporting. Their Ukraine podcast is award winning and whenever the hosts voice their personal opinions, it's staunchly pro-Ukrainian. They were among the very few to have been invited to interview Zelensky after Vance and Trump shouted at him.

Whatever their stance on domestic UK politics is, is completely irrelevant, given that both Labour and Conservatives are pretty much equally pro-Ukrainian. Their personal affiliation might be the Conservative Party and it would just not matter here. I didn't check because I don't care.

BS. The article predates the resumption of military aid to Ukraine by a few hours, so it was clearly written in the context of Trump selling out Ukraine.

It outlines that if Ukraine's political leadership was forced to basically surrender, there would still be unsanctioned partizan activity (just as in the beginning of the 2022 invasion, resistance was largely decentralized). Everyone who is following what's going on knows that thanks to Trump's betrayal and North Korea being extremely helpful to Russia, Ukraine is currently in a very difficult position. And everyone with the slightest clue also knows that there would be more than enough of Ukrainians that would not take it laying down, should the scenario of a surrender forced upon Ukraine by Trump become reality.

The disconnect here may be due to me not being able to read the full article without signing up to a publication I fundamentally disagree with. The free section of the article and headline reads exactly how I have stated, and I may have used my own bias against the Telegraph to assume the worst about the rest. If there is a more nuanced point here it’s a shame the headline is so vague.

Well, that's you not being able or willing to properly use an ad blocker. I don't post paywalled articles without an archive.is link. That said, nobody is stopping you from pasting the URL to archive.is either, so there are at least two options to read the whole thing without subscribing and make informed comments.

On a phone so no Adblock and all that is a bit of a PITA.

You could also have put something substantive in this post rather than just copy/pasting the title?

Works perfectly fine here. Also, broken setups of others are not really my problem. I'm just an unpaid volunteer.

Or you just use archive.is. Don't put the burden of your setup onto me.

Ok you’re right, I’ve had a think about this and realised I’m completely in the wrong.

I can see from the massive amount of engagement you’ve had on this post that I’m in the minority here.

Feel free to make better posts instead of complaining. You have an undeserved sense of entitlement.

Sometimes I forget there is a person on the other end of these messages. I hope you have a good day. It looks like we are both hoping for peace in Ukraine let’s just go out there focus on whatever we can do to support people like us and remove the oxygen from those who spread misinformation.
