I see the specific hate this game is getting is directed towards it not being enough of an RPG... even though it's supposed to be an action RPG. Meaning light on rpg, focused on action. So it's it people wishing this game was something is not?

Yatzee videos seem to always have one guy marking his jokes as off-topic when they're half the reason people watch him.

The off-topic catagory is inherently down to each viewers interpretation, so I just leave it as a manual skip option.

What makes it slop?

The game was finished, which is unfortunately not the norm. It is not AI or even procgen content. It has a focused (if meh) story, graphics and mechanics are solid, it isn’t some sprawling mass open world with a billion fetch quests.

It’s hardly an inspiring game but it certainly is a complete, focused piece that many people have enjoyed. It’s the happy B student in the class.

So again: what makes it slop?

Literally the first dialogue with Garryck. It's like it was Va'd by different people depending on your answers.

"That's the imperial envoy you're talking to, show some respect" - lol perfect deadpan delivery, emotional delivery is for losers.

And that's before mentioning all the other missing perks of past obsidian games, like the interactivity of the world. It's like a single player shooter stuck in an MMO world.

I don’t understand why people have such a myopic view of games these days. They’re either God’s gift to gamers or absolute dog shit that people should be executed for.

Avowed received decent, not terrible or great reviews. But for you it’s basically Too Human it sounds like. You’re just too blinded by the need to slot games as a 10 or a 1 and can’t be bothered to consider nuance.

Anyway you have failed to give any evidence for why this is “AI slop.“ You just think it’s a bad game. That’s not the same thing. You’re entitled to your opinion but to think it was generated by AI is, frankly, way too generous towards AI. You clearly think it’s way more capable than it is. Because if you think that Avowed is so bad that it falls to that level, then you just don’t have any perspective.

I gave you plenty of evidence, you just decided to ignore it because for some ungodly reason you attached your personal value to it.

70€ for a PC it better be better than just meh and deliver what was promised by the adverts. I work to have those 70€, if a company lies and overcharges, sure as shit it's a 1. They advertised a completely different game than what was delivered. And this is after 6y.

You're basically the equivalent to a Taylor Swift fan arguing with people who don't equate her music to Bach or Brahms...
