Expired rights then why does it say Amazon original if it's not originally theirs
The Expanse
Seasons 1-3 were produced by SyFy, who I assume still owns the rights to that content. Amazon picked up the rights and wrapped it up (one of two good things Prime Video has done so far in my opinion).
SyFy don’t have the rights either, which was a big reason they cancelled it. The rights stayed with Alcon for the whole run.
What would be the other thing?
The Grand Tour. Even though it never managed to recreate the golden days of TG, it was the way the trio deserved to go out.
Fallout?
That doesn't mean they originally made it. It's just that they had it on thoer service first.
It's stupid and misleading, but that's what they do.
That just means they aired the show on its premiere in that particular territory. Which they did for the later seasons.
I'll not forgive Amazon for what they did to this show. They deserve to sit with their mess.
What did they do to The Expanse?
Massive budget cuts (compare the last couple of seasons with the first few) and then they skipped the end of the story without even finishing the last season.
The good news is that the books are excellent and I highly suggest them if you haven't had the chance to read them.
Those first couple of seasons though...
I don't think this is a popular opinion but I 100% agree. I was stoked when the show got picked back up, but in retrospect I'd almost rather they just ended after 3. The books are better regardless, but the first three seasons are such a good adaptation, and then the next three have so many glaring problems and bad script & editing choices.
Oh no. Anyways
