Tough Duck is a Canadian company based out of Winnipeg.

Unpopular opinion, but Carhartts have the most inaccurate, wildly inconsistent sizing out of possibly any clothing company. The same size of the same model between two different pairs of Carhartt pants can be either way too big or way too small.

For bonus points, ask your local stores to start stocking Tough Duck.

Tough duck is canadian but I will not buy from them again. They were union made clothes made in canada. But that has changed. No more union anymore that I can tell. And all clothes seem to be made in other countries now. I bought the same jacket that used to be made in canada, it is now made in another country and the fit is all wrong. Quite disappointed with the turn of quality and the companies change of altitude towards union canada made clothing. I was happy to be paying more for canadian made clothing, to bad. 🙁

Darn! Do you have any alternatives to recommend?

Big Bill makes a lot of their stuff in Canada and has a 'Made in Canada' section to their website. It trends towards the industrial end of the spectrum rather than 'contractor-chic'.

Link to the Canadian made stuff

I wish I did! I guess buying from a canadian company is still better than the alternatives.

About sizing, I just have to shop clothes in person and try them on until it feels right. When I bought my pair of Carhartt's in 2023, I tried on 6 or 7 different ones before I could figure out which one fit right on me and was appropriate for my usecase.

I can't shop online for clothes like pants and jackets.
