Can't follow accounts from Mastodon (rabbitea.rs)

This is odd. I usually follow all my Fediverse accounts from my Mastodon one, just so I can boost stuff, keep an eye on what is posted across communities I run, etc (it's not my primary access method, just a bonus so I'm more likely to notice things).

Anyway, on retrolemmy.com I've just noticed if I follow anyone or any community here from Mastodon, it just sits on "follow requested".

There was an issue following from kbin at one point which was also impacting Mastodon, but I've tried following from kbin and it's working fine, so I don't think it's the same problem.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure. Thats weird. I personally haven't tried following anything mastadon. As I read it, the fix was supposedly added on later versions of lemmy. I'll try and do some research.

Edit: The way I read it seems you cannot follow individuals on mastadon via lemmy. I have seen similar threads on other instances.

With kbin it is possible. Maybe and hopefully it will be integrated in later versions of lemmy.

Oh, it's the other way round! I can't follow Lemmy accounts/communities on this instance from Mastodon.

I've created a mastadon account on mastadon.social, and I am able to follow myself on there. It looks like a problem on your instance.

Could it be a federation issue?

Hmm... It works on retrochat.online and takahē.social, it doesn't on oldbytes.space or botsin.space (the latter takes ages to find the accounts, maybe it's a timeout issue?). If it's not a blanket thing then I expect it'll sort itself out. Thanks for checking!
