They had to maintain their "fearful" image, or they wouldn't be able to do their job.

Not like they're even doing a good job with their real job. $7.50 an Hour ended up doing their job for them.

That was my first reaction, but cops make mad overtime. If they are salaried then they are definitely considered "non exempt" which means they can make overtime. Shit like this can let them bill a bunch of overtime hours.

When I was young I heard several adults say something along the lines of "yeah cops love that overtime". I thought it meant they worked all the time. Now that I'm in a job where I bill my own hours I get it. They just claim a bunch of overtime for something unusual like this.
