Can we invent the word “sadire”?

It’s when you think something is satire at first glance but then change your mind and become sad…

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Sad because it's friggin' dire if they can't even spell "liberty," or "tyranny..."

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I’m gonna make a slight modification if you don’t mind:

Sadire - something at first confused for satire but is actually just sad and raises your ire.

[–] latenightnoir@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I second this! That makes two of us, so "sadire" as "post-satire sad ire" is officially coined and everyone else who doesn't know this is lame!

[–] Noel_Skum@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Genuinely pleased to have coined a new word with you. Good stuff. Thanks. Personally though I think we should give it a week or two to let the dictionaries and LLM’s catch up before we start pointing the “lame-finger” in anyone’s direction…

What an enlightening read, I enjoyed it through and through.

I am a bit confused though, as my car is electric and fucking my charging port somehow doesn’t feel as safe.

Idk tyranny is kind of based

[–] Tower@lemm.ee 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Tranny" isn't tyranny, though...

[–] HEXN3T@lemmy.blahaj.zone 46 points 2 months ago

It also says "libety" so I'm not assuming whoever made this sign is literate

[–] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] HEXN3T@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

I mean if you mean literally then yeah ig

[–] slartibartfast@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And tyranny is what you already have. It’s debased.

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I don't understand this thread one bit... Just like the sign

[–] festnt@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

[–] zero_spelled_with_an_ecks@programming.dev 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Libety Libety Libety. Libety.

[–] mdurell@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It's Dug and Mu!

[–] laserm@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I just find this hilarious, because bith, liberty, in the context of state, is stretching personal rights of individuals as much as it is possible without causing harm to other individuals or society. A harm that trans people do not cause. By fighting against trans right you are fighting against personal liberty.

[–] laserm@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I deeply apologize for this tiny mistake in my body of text in the English language. As the preposterous spelling of mine must have inflected a considerable emotional pain upon you, I shall correct my mistake:

bitch

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I wasn't correcting you, I thought it was funny, since the signs were misspelled, figured you were making fun of them.

[–] laserm@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

ah fuck

~~definitely meant that~~

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Transgirls will oppress you, but only if they have your consent and you happen to be into that....

source: Am transgirl

[–] moss@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 months ago

as it should be

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 1 points 2 months ago

I consent and am into that.

[–] Fortatech@gregtech.eu 13 points 2 months ago

None. I'm all for lebanese.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

They really love the uneducated on the right side of the political spectrum.

[–] insomniac_lemon@lemmy.cafe 11 points 2 months ago

Both is rule

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 10 points 2 months ago

Tyranny is when the people are scared of the government.

Liberty is when the government is scared of the people.

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago

If Libity has to do with libation, then yes.

[–] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago
