Lost is the peak of showing JJ Abrams brilliant strategy of coming up with as much cool mysterious shit as he likes early on because it’s cool, but never considering what the payoff for that is so when he finally has to answer the questions all you get is a loud wet fart noise.

I fucking hate JJ Abrams more than any contemporary director.

With a sympathetic iraqi character it was decades ahead of its time.

Like, the character was literally a former Republican Guard intelligence operator who tortured people.

Americans know some people in Iraq have regular office jobs, right?

Lost is terrible, it seems like half of the mystique of the show is random shit happens and is never explained and people are like "WHOA WHAT DOES IT MEAN"

it means it should have ended in like season 3, like most shows.

i watched it recently and i really enjoyed it

(yes i have erased the last two seasons from my mind)

I think Lost is one of those shows that can only be experienced as a live social event. If you didn't watch it while it was on air and the people around you weren't doing the same, there was and is no point in watching it.

The whole point was there was a bunch of wild stuff that wouldn't be explained for months or years, (if ever) so you got to talk about your harebrained theories or be the coolest person in the office when you share the one little small detail barely on screen you caught and everyone else missed because you were the only person in the office with a TiVo or an HD TV.

I ended up watching it via renting DVDs from blockbuster (not even aging myself that much this was one of the few left after streaming and I had no internet) a few years ago and thought that was a decent way to watch it lol, since all the fucking cliffhangers didn't matter cuz I could binge watch it

God I hate lost. Try Better Call Saul instead, that Season 5 and Breaking Bad season 5 are some of the best TV i've seen in years. Tokyo Vice on hbo Max is pretty badass as well.

Lost is better than Breaking Bad and I will die on this hill.

Better Call Saul is great though.

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

i'm pretty confident that you'll be dying alone on that hill

It's true, and if I take a step back it's pretty obvious that Breaking Bad is a "better" show, in writing, acting, etc, but I never vibed with it and greatly enjoyed Lost more.
