RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

About to go back to sleep on my stomach as I sleep.

Our cat is on my spouse’s lap, receiving the pets she is owed.

She's currently sleeping in one of her kitty beds and doing well.

Mine has shit 5 times today before 3pm. It's about as firm as chocolate frosty that's been sitting out for awhile but at least there is no blood.

He probably ate some trash.

No, she gets hemorraghic gastric enteritis. We know she has a malabsorption issue and she's on B12 supplements to see if they help. She doesn't have atypical Addison's so we're working on diet to manage inflammation. She's a new rescue that spent her 6 years as breeding stock in a puppy mill. So didn't exactly have good diet or care.

She has a much better life now.

I have a dog with atopic dermatitis. It takes a lot to get a handle on, feel you. But he's way happier.

My cat pooped right outside her exclusive litterbox I just cleaned yesterday, and is acting like everything is fine. 😾

Has been broiling here in Appalachia this last week. Brought the dogs in even when they wished to be out. Chickens seem ok. They're under the shade of trees. Some digging out holes in their run to keep cool.

Last week our old girl got snakebit. We'd just spotted a copperhead the week prior -the first venomous snake we'd ever seen anywhere near our place. Relieved she bounced back quickly. Swelling down after a day. Glad to have had some leftover antibiotic that kept the nasty wound at the bite from getting worse.

Poor chickie.

She was sad that visiting family left, then happy to lick our dinner plates, then stressed out by thunder and lightning. She climbed on the couch and curled up tight next to me and actually calmed down! Usually she's a scared panting mess for hours.

Digging to China in his bed so I'll pay attention to him.

Our dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, so we're sad. His meds are definitely helping, and he's still excited whenever the plumbers visit.

I love that he has no idea. The veterinarian said he can have as much dog-safe table scraps as he wants.

I love that he loves the plumbers.

My wife and our pupper and I just moved back in with my mom yesterday. Sister's cats are here too. Skye REALLY wants to be friends with them but they're scared of the big fluffy golden cloud 😭 But she's at least happy to have special gramma scritches back on tap, and her favorite cheese dealer.

She has some kind of eye infection. Got her checked by a vet.
