I'm afraid not, just an avid appreciator of all things BLÅHAJ

Don’t burn yourself out! Looking forward to testing but take care of yourself too!

Absolutely. The dev team is slowly growing to help achieve our roadmap sustainably.

Thanks for caring ❤️

Will it support linux phones? The website works well, but I would prefer an app

Very excited! Thanks for all your hard work.

I am curious about the lack of, like, gifs in the Fediverse. If that makes sense? I understand gifs aren’t even that efficient and really they are like MP4’s or something that we just call gifs, but either way, I am not seeing gifs or short videos in line when I’m scrolling around.

Is this a technical limitation of ActivityPub or is this something that an app like Artemis can address? I LOVED being able to full screen a gif on Apollo, put my thumb anywhere on the screen and drag and I could scrub the “gif”.

Do you have a plan for when lemmy support will be added?

[–] hariette@kbin.social 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, aiming for mid-way through the beta.

Cool I’m excited to try it out

Thank you for your work

Wow this is way sooner than I expected! I didn’t think the private beta would be ready until mid-late July. Very exciting!

Yeah, crazy fast roadmap.

IMO moderation tools should come way sooner. It's one of the reasons people on Reddit were using 3PA.

Eh, I kind of disagree. So far at least, there hasn't been a need until trolls show up. Lemmy and kbin need engagement and content, which apps will help immensely. I'm using both of them, but not as much as I used reddit because they aren't very mobile friendly at the moment for me.

Good moderation tools will take time to build. We need them before the trolls arrive. Ideally, Lemmy and Kbin should try reaching out to the larger mods of Reddit to get an understanding of what tools are needed/useful. That way those tools can get on the roadmap and start being created.

Really appreciate you sharing this with us and providing that visibility.

Very excited for this, I've been using the chrome app and it just feels too clunky at times, a proper app is needed.

Do you think they’ll have private dms or groups in future?

[–] bedrooms@kbin.social 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm a layman on software development but I wonder a few things.

I'd imagine web scraping will be a big challenge but it's not mentioned in the roadmap. Hell, kbin is planning thirdparty APIs, iirc, so switching from scraping is going to happen at some point, and there's no strategy mentioned on this, neither.

Additionally there should be many architectural questions but they're again not in the roadmap.

[–] hariette@kbin.social 3 points 2 years ago

What kind of questions would you like to see answered in the roadmap? I’ll admit it’s barebone, as I’m balancing development with planning.

There’s a kbin PR adding an API. We’re following that closely. Right now we’re making our in-house version using scrapping, to unblock us in terms of running the private beta.

Engineering wise, we’re 2 actively working and have 1 more joining us.

Thank you so much, I am looking forward to beta testing it.
