Hang on folks, this is just approving Delta’s app notarization for the EU AltStore release. This is not a US App Store approval.

Actually it allows emulators on the standard Apple AppStore (after review). Ignited is working of submitting. Edit: source right from Apple’s website. This is the review guidelines for all apps on the AppStore, not just Europe. My guess is that they decided to include the emulators to keep control and retain customers in their store instead of them going elsewhere in EU. And they had to make it the same rule all over to keep it consistent.

Regardless, Riley says in the mastodon post that this blog is sourced from that this is only approval of distribution via alt store.

How do I get altstore? Will it work on an iPad?

[–] kagrocery@midwest.social 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Installing AltStore on your US-based iPad or iPhone is pretty straightforward, as simple as sideloading can get in 2024, tbh. You will need a PC or Mac to do it, however.

Mine is probably an EU model, I livr in eu

Ah, my US bias is showing. You could still follow the directions in the link, or wait a couple weeks until the AltStore goes live in the EU and get Delta the easy way.

DMA hasn't been implemented yet ugh

I'll wait, and Hope my 6th gen iPad gets the EU treatment

I support iOS for work and stay on Android and emulation was definitely one of the reasons, I hope to see more iOS emulation work done with this decision

Since over a decade I use emulators on my android, I didn't even know iOS had non.

I’m excited for this too. I had to begrudgingly switch to apple due to family but now that I can emulate I may stay

[–] Ptsf@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You've always been able to install emulators if you're technically inclined (no root or security holes required).

[–] Altomes@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

No that's fair but because of the lack of use its always been pretty low end with DS and PSP being on the high end without JIT which is likely to stay the same tbh

I’ve been using AltStore for Delta for a while, but often forget to refresh every week. Looking forward to this rollout!

[–] LazaroFilm@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I switched to SideStore and Ignited. It’s basically the same things but SideStore can refresh from the phone (no computer, just WiFi) and ignited has more options available and more consoles available.

[–] PaupersSerenade@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

I’ll have to look into to that! Thanks for the tip :)
