Kosher salt is the best standard salt in the US (Mortons, Diamond Crystal is also acceptable). Sea salt in the US is marked up too much to be "standard", and thus catapults it into the specialized salts (Real salt, Himalayan pink/black etc.)
However, outside the US I've used sea salt almost exclusively
Sea salt increasingly should be renamed micro plastic salt, which is a shame because it is really good
