I believe the proper name is "red and blue striped packing bag things"
Big ass canvas bags.
My mother calls them "homeless bags", and always has. Before things got good, I remember them coming out was a sign we'd been evicted or needed to find a new couch to surf. I also always remember the handles breaking if you made them to heavy.

I googled it and according to Wikipedia it's called a laundry bag
