I created an account on another 'decent ' instance but I'm not sure if I'll keep it.

Haven't heard complaints about lemm.ee. And the stated goals and open financials seems pretty promising.

That said, I wouldn't know it if people are routinely censored.

Main site has following rules:

  • No abusive language

  • No bigotry

  • No advertising

  • No pornography

Obviously last 2 aren't relevant here. First two, strictly as written, I wouldn't have issues with but I have seen sooo many leftists sites use the same language to basically virtue signal that they don't like conservatives, conservative ideas, or speaking out in any way against minorities.

Like I can understand not wanting slurs or personal attacks. But not being able to voice the opinion that affirmative-action hurts minorities or that gender-affirming care harms the patient as well as society without being called a bigot seems practically impossible on reddit or 99.999% of Lemmy instances.

Could be these guys interpret those rules literally like I do or could be they interpret things through a Critical Race Theory / leftist lens. I have no clue but I usually put it in reverse when I see this cuz it's so often the leftist interpretation.
