I only watched the first episode so far. It’s a bit over the top with returning to Texas and noting changes. I did like the comparison to the 50s America in the Saudi American enclave. I’ll watch another one or two, but as a casual viewer of the first series, it feels a bit dull to start. It was never about bigger things, but everyday life, so it might settle in comfortably. It might not. The gentle aging of the characters is nicely done.
I've watched 7 so far so I'm curious to see how to feel about the next few. I really enjoyed the first episode. Sure it has to sorta fill in the 10 year gap, but even then they leave plenty and leave it plenty grounded.
I guess it you haven't watched I'll convince you by saying the show is grounded. It is about everyday life. It's there.
