Tbf, AI might've written a better ending for the GOT TV series.

The ending felt more like an AI summary of a possible ending than a real ending

It proabably was a summary given by Martin to the writers, who then forgot about it until the last episode and had to summarize the summary.

According to.... Martin? that's more or less what happened. He gave them his rough sketch of the end and they worked off that.

My personal theory is that this is why he's decided to stab his oldest fans in the back, besides being a whiny rich prick, no one liked his ending so he's not going to bother.

I think it's misunderstood that the ending is the issue when it's really_the execution_ that failed.

At the end of the day whatever the ending was going to be some people will hate it and others will nitpick the logic plot holes. However everyone got to where they were supposed to be in the story.

It was the terrible time jumps and sudden twists and deaths and poorly displaying it on screen that made the last season really disappointing.

Also the series had the unfortunate fate of peaking in season 4. Compared with Breaking Bad which had its best episode in the last season.

I'd agree with that but that's because I'm one of the people that didn't mind the overall plot beats.

However, that's not my casual observation of what people complained about at the time.

Martin was probably meant to continue writing the books so the show could have material to work with. When this didn’t happen, Martin gave them whatwver he had wrote for Winds and gave them the overall ending, Bronn on throne, Dany and Cersi and Jamie and all the others dead, Jon Snow the prince that was promised and back at the wall. The number of seasons was then cut from 10 to 8, and the writers had to rush to finish the story.

Now Martin saw the reaction to the ending, decided to scrap all of Winds he wrote before the show ending, and completely rewrite it so everyone ends up in different places. He just won’t admit it and has no incentive to finish the story since he is now, as you say, a whiny rich prick.
