I get what you mean.

Personally I am unsure of whether it's one of two things

Things are getting better now as they were back then but now I am older and more cynical so I don't accept they really are improving as a whole. Much like many people my age probably did when I was younger.
Things are getting worse and we're all fucked.

I think an actual left wing political party as an option would be a bloody good start.

I agree with you, but I'm too old and worn down to do it, and nobody else seems to be in much of a hurry either.

I don't think it's coming in my lifetime.

Hopefully it is although, not knowing how old you are I just hope it happens quickly!
