Disagree on Viki, calling Palestinians subhuman and explicitly wishing death upon them is inexcusable, no matter your age or identity. BE is a rough personality, especially when he's making fun of people he really ought to just leave be, but when he's outraged at something, it's always with good reason.
She made it in private, absolutely self-crit'ed, and stopped making left videos. It is really weird when cis men seem to need to harp on this. I'm not even defending her, just think that BE went far too hard on too many people. BE took so admittedly bad screenshots and created his own narrative that she's a Zionist. It's not like BE doesn't do this regularly.
I want the lemmygrad people who are defending/posting Brian Berletic, an obvious reactionary who is still unapologetically making bad takes, to talk to the anti Viki people. I get that it's a big instance and not a hive mind. It's just weird to be so hard against an imperfect and retired leftist creator yet so protective of an obvious reactionary who continues being terrible. Again, it just has weird cis guy energy. Sorry if I misjudged you, but there's no pronouns in Lemmygrad so IDK.
Please no long viki struggle sessions
"weird cis guy energy" is liberal identity politic nonsense. Use material analysis.
Is it really antimaterialist to say that when a group of mostly cis people are extremely harsh to a trans person, but lenient against cis people who make similar mistakes, it might be a sign of cis brainworms? I can probably phrase that in terms that are more materialist but the message is the same; I don't think it'd be any different if a mostly white website was being weird about POC.
I think this is almost certainly a case of confirmation bias of you stringing together two people to form your own narrative to conform to a theory of identity politics. Unless you can show me the users who actively did this this seems like idealist thinking to claim it inherently transphobic rather than hypocritical.
Hexbear is full of these types. A lot of left leaning spaces, lib, radlib or even the myriad flavours of ml/maoist/dengist/etc... are more forgiving of people that are closer to the heteronormative racial masculine ideal. And that is not idealist idenity BS.
Unexaminded reactionary biases did cause the failure of several socialist movements, such as the new left in 80s germany or the post ww1 american communist party.
While this is true and must always cause us to re-examine our own biases, to imply that these two creators even have the same viewers and their difference in blowback for bad opinions thus must be attributed to transphobia has a higher burden of proof than "cis energy"
Sorry, just to be clear, do you mean people with reactionary biases or people calling out reactionary biases?
With the biases. The other makes less sense in context of what I wrote.
Here's one post about Viki where a user brought up the really islamophobic comment she had made: https://hexbear.net/comment/5730673
Here's the last post from that user: https://hexbear.net/post/4672233
This is the only post discussing her islamophobic statement I found. I'm not gonna say that 1 instance makes a pattern, that would be a hasty generalization, but hopefully it's not hard to see the point.
No I genuinely don't see your point, what actually is it?
If you think these are all the same people? Absolutely.
