Why would theatrical comedies need to make a comeback? The love for them has never waned. Both my top 10 to 20/ most watched movies more than half are generally theatrical comedies. Police academy, top secret, hot shots, airplane, Robin Hood Men in tights, spaceballs, blazing saddles, real genius, and of course the original Naked Gun. They never stopped being good. Hollywood just forgot or didn't care to remember how to make them.

All anyone has to do is look at scary movie or Not Another series from the early 2000s. Starting out fairly decently. But quickly devolving into nothing but a series of references to other movies. Lazy cash grabs that weren't funny.

The one trailer I saw for this upcoming naked movie didn't seem encouraging to me but I'm going to hold off judgment until I've actually seen it. I really would like to see Hollywood embrace the format again. Well I love my action Blockbusters we've been starved for this kind of content for a decade or more.
