I love how these positions are just preformed, free floating in the public consciousness, and left for the worst people to just pick up and play with. It's so obvious that Democrats only exist to lose. This SHOULD make people question Democrats legitimacy, but it wont. A legitimate left wing oppositional party could be feasting right now with how many opportunities exist for agitation. Candidates for local authorities could be running on implementing divestment from Israel on top of local investment in social programs, and just reap the rewards.

I can't wait for opportunities in NYC to be squandered instead of leveraged.

A rising analysis on left content spheres is that the people who are currently on the right are a cargo cult of the neoliberal and republican foreign policy hawks that came before them: they don't understand the mechanism that props up their wasteful, lavish lifestyles is the same that gives aid to their lackeys or engages in unequal exchange. These are people who are thoroughly convinced that the American Empire doesn't depend on the domination of the rest of the world, who have drunk the American exceptionalism kool-aid completely, undermining the very reason the US seems exceptional. And it really shows.
