Humor (and acting) require empathy because comedians (and actors) need to understand what feelings look like in order to resonate with their audience. If you aren't keyed in to what emotions look like, you can't reproduce them well, you can't write to appeal to them, and you can't engage with those feelings when other people have them. The result is that there are no good right-wing comedians or actors, because they don't have the empathy to not be right-wing, never mind to act and be funny.
