Goddamn are Japanese woodcuts something else. Look at that rain effect! There's also a chance the colors were done with seperate blocks and not colored in over black ink.

Edit: looking at I again, I'm pretty sure the color was done with seperate blocks because of how the rain is done. This technique is called "Nishiki-e" in Japan.
