The study of how factors such as geography, economics, military capability and non-State actors affects the foreign policy of states.

All articles will require a short submission statement of 3-5 sentences.

Use the article title as the submission title. Do not editorialize the title or add your own commentary to the article title.

In this community we encourage long, in-depth submissions. Submissions should not be news articles that merely provide quick updates on current events; instead they should include background information and an explanation as to why the events they describe are occurring.

Submissions should not be about an individual country's domestic policies. Instead, they should be about relationships between different countries and/or relevant international organizations. Things like breakaway politics are permitted in this subreddit, as they are relevant to and could affect the geopolitical system.

Submissions are strongly encouraged to come from reputable sources. When posting from a lesser known source, please check whether the authors have some sort of qualification demonstrating they are knowledgeable of the subjects they discuss.

Sources that include (or solely contain) maps, statistics, or other multimedia (videos, interviews, primary sources, etc.) are permitted and even encouraged in this subreddit.

We encourage discussion and welcome anyone to pose hypotheses and ask questions. We allow self-posts.

We encourage comments to be cited.

Observe the silence:

  • No condemnation of US authorities’ harsh treatment of migrant protests.
  • No acknowledgment of the protests’ peaceful nature.
  • No calls for dialogue, no diplomatic visits, no threats of sanctions or cooled relations.
  • No warnings about democratic backsliding, no objection to deploying the National Guard against citizens.

Contrast this with recent actions:

  • A fiercely condemnatory stance toward Georgia’s government.
  • Muted criticism of Turkey during the Istanbul protests.

The pattern? A three-tiered hypocrisy:

  • Full condemnation for smaller states (Georgia).
  • Tepid murmurs for regional players (Turkey).
  • Deafening silence for Western hegemon (USA).

When responses shift this drastically based on geopolitics as opposed to principles, how can the EU claim to champion democracy or rule of law?

When you unblind yourself from the Western lies, you can see that their modus operandi is the same since the beginning of the 20st century. For example, there's condemnation of African tyrants, but silence about massacres committed by French colonizers in Algeria. There's a lot of drama involving Venezuela, however Europe stayed silent during Pinochet's (and all of operation condor) massacres. The Nazis were hailed as heroes and protectors of the West from communists until they started invading France and Britain.

Sorry for the late reply but I'm new and I get to go through old posts now. :)

I learned this fact in primary school. When other kids would hit me and I tell the personnel wouldnt do anything besides telling me to suck it up.

When on the other side I told them an exaggerated version, they would look at it and start helping.

Its only in a deeply sick society that daily bullying and violence against those perceived as weak goes unpunished unless it is about to escalate.

I did already ask myself a short time later why you need to be loud and manipulative to succeed in this world.

Since I've started reading marxist texts, i understand that it isnt just the way of the world but a carefully constructed mountain of lies, hate and fear to maintain the hegemony.
