You are allowed to go low against those who do that against you, there's no honourable fight if the rules are not agreed by both parties.

Yeah, that’s fair. I guess the hypothetical I had in my mind was if I’m at war and the enemy is torturing their POWs, I’m not going to start torturing mine because that would go against my morals. I was interpreting “going low” as abandoning my own values.
