Can anyone enlighten me on why they picked on Irish immigrants? Did blues get coopted by Irish historically?

I think the movie “The Wind that Shakes the Barley” is a good movie that might offer some more context to the Irish narrative. It’s not a direct answer to your question but at least for me the more context I have the easier it is to understand larger arcs of thought and experience
