It's crazy how much of America's self-image revolves around notions of "Freedom" when it's one of the most oppressive places in the developed world.
Even the stuff you do have supposed guaranteed constitutional freedoms for, come with such heavy caveats that they never actually play out that way in practice.
Unfortunately propaganda works. People really think they're free here. And will get incredibly earth-shatteringly unreasonably fuck-ass mad if you try to pull the wool off their eyes.
