How come they don't "brigade" normal threads? only political ones.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 17 points 2 months ago

90% of threads are pretty boring. Most of the memes posted on Lemmy are the kinds of things I would expect from /r/memes. On the political threads people often make claims that are simply false (i.e. claiming that Marxists or 'tankies' love the Russian Federation) so naturally Hexbear will show up to contradict that stuff. You'd be hard pressed to find us organizing "brigades," we literally just have a unified ideological line that we're experienced in defending so when we see something that's easily disproven we disprove it.

Hexbear is a higly politicised instance, it makes sense that people from there are mainly interested in politics and would mostly interact with those posts.

They don't "brigade" anything, they're federated

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Alright, I'll rephrase.
How come they rarely ever comment outside of political threads?

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

What's that got to do with the price of eggs?

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, how come their totally not brigading ends outside of political threads?

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It doesn't, they don't brigade any threads.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are you avoiding answering my question? not trying to be passive-agressive (or even agressive).

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I did answer your question, they don't brigade any threads

I think you may have misinterpreted it. I asked (paraphrased) "if hexbear isn't brigading, then why do they almost never comment on non-political posts?"

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Can you stop "paraphrasing" things in ways that completely change their meaning, please?

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

How did I change the meaning? Genuinely asking.

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You previously asked why they don't brigade non-political posts.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

I don't even know what we're arguing about anymore. I've had enough, goodnight.

Because Hexbear is an explicitly political community. They’re here for politics, so of course that’s what they’re going to comment on.

A leftist social platform centered around community building through discussion, shitposting memes, and sharing content.
