While I agree with your general point, voter suppression can taint the turnout numbers somewhat.

That's not even accounting for the shit show that was grandpa Biden refusing to step down. Dude was clearly half a brain out the door, Fumbled hard or a planned loss who knows but agent orange had the election handed to him when democrats refused to do anything about Biden and the massive amount of disinformation. They had 4 whole damn years.

Even Hitler had a lower approval rating in the 1933 elections than Trump in 2025. And that was when he was already in power, the first oppositionals where in prison, opposing newspapers were banned and these guys were patrolling in front of the polling stations.

That's what serious voter suppression looks like.

My point was more that you can't really tell without further analysis who stayed home based on their own choices and who was deliberately excluded, especially since making it harder to vote can be a combination of both.
