So, anybody got a thumbnail sketch of the Mujahideen history and politics? What's their relationship to the Taliban? What does gender role enforcement look like?

Better question is how, when and why they were funded and supported by American government to help them become the fighter force they are today.

I know that back in the '80s the US supported them with arms and maybe guerrilla training to bleed the USSR. They were publicized as freedom fighters. I don't know much of the history.
