how's reading? considered audiobooks? What's the book you dropped but want to return to the most?

[–] LastoftheDinosaurs@reddthat.com 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It hasn't been going well, but I think it's because I haven't found something that pulls me in yet. Audiobooks are a good idea, and I should really give them a try again.

Camino Island by John Grisham is one I've wanted to return to, but I'd like to try something else first. Do you have any recommendations?

Considering how much time I spent on yt while avoiding audiobooks, I'll pick Leviathan Wakes back up. It won some award for best narration.

I can't thank you enough, I've been looking for something like https://librivox.org/

A Journal of the Plague Year audiobook was really immersive. 17th century lockdown is.. morbidly fascinating

I probably lstened to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8bbQkaZ9SU

This looks really interesting, and I like that it's in the public domain. Thanks for the recommendations

Nice short read :> What kind of games? Playing Pizza Tower rn, 90s-cartoon-ish platformer

[–] LastoftheDinosaurs@reddthat.com 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Thanks lol. I just started a turn-based jrpg called Bravely Default II. It's pretty good good so far

How's Pizza Tower?

jrpgs is a genre I've been avoiding despite knowing I'd love it. Will try!

Cooking. How is it?) Did you have fun yet doing it. Personally I did experiment with low expectations and some pleasant discoveries. And I found someone who cooks to ask for daily menu advice (grandmother :)

It's going well. I've gotten really good at making burritos, but I need to add some variety. I don't want to stop making the burritos because I know I can make them well, and they actually taste pretty good. I might phase them out when I find something to replace them with. I'm still looking for something new to make for dinner. It's a huge improvement, though; I was eating pasta almost exclusively before this. Everything has been vegan, but I'm going to have a cheese pizza for my birthday tomorrow. I might try to make a vegan pizza, but I doubt it since it would be after work and already kind of late in the day.

Are there any dishes you like to make?

Nice when brain agrees with stomach! Ideally I'd mix chicken broth grains with all-in-one cream soup. But normal one pot meals are much more satisfying to eat w/family :D There's easy and tasty pies. My 4yo sis likes cooking pancakes, so am I. Quick syrniki for breakfast. I need to make oatmeal more often.
