I mean it's funny, but food manufacturers literally have entire departments dedicated to similar stuff.
And they absolutely bulk out our food with saw dust too, they just call it cellulose.

Very important to prevent shredded cheese from sticking to itself.
I'm just sure this meme guy went on to have a very successful life in the food industry... And they were happy to accept both the data and spirit of his research.
I had a summer job when I was a kid in a food manufacturing plant. The food waste went in these "green dumpsters" to be turned into dog food apparently. Bits of broken pallets and shrink wrap absolutely ended up in there.
Jeez, that's horrible.
