I want to get an autopetter because I constantly forget about my barn and coop. What's the easiest way to get one?

I wouldnt waste jades on this. I guess the chance is the same everytime you find a chest there, regardless of how deep you are. With tine you will find it, and only one is needed for barn/coop

Looks like it's a 3.5% chance from any Skull Caverns chest, regardless of floor.
