I am helping my friend with his first PC build and I am torn between the 4060ti, or a 6800 that is on sale for his build (he doesn't care too much about Ray tracing). I understand that the 6800 is a way faster and better card and that websites like userbenchmark are incredibly biased, but I have never owned AMD myself and have heard about things like driver issues and issues with windows 11 that could make it more tempting to go team green for someone who knows less about tech and doesn't want to spend time troubleshooting issues.

I remember that crysis 1 was basically impossible to run maxed out on any pc of the time. Even as better hardware came out, it still was super difficult to run at maxed settings on modern resolutions. What was the main cause of this? Was the graphics engine just that advanced? Poorly optimized? I remember a rumor that crytek was betting on cpus remaining single core, just being much faster and that's why the engine ran slow, but I have no idea how true that was.

Pretty much what the title says. I have a rig in which both the motherboard and GPU are from their TUF lineup and I'm scared shitless of ever needing to RMA anything.

With CD drives becoming less and less common and mainly for niche interests in the gaming community, how realistic would it be for companies to release special edition physical copies on an external SSD?

Last night i was rendering a large scene in Blender and i left my PC on, i fell asleep, then this morning my screen changed to my Linux lock screen (I dualboot Linux for work), was wondering how the hell did it boot into Linux, it must've been restarted by something, when i booted into Windows again, it is updating, Windows Update was the culprit, it updated itself without my permission, and my rendering is gone, i have to render it again and it takes hours, i'm fucking fuming rn.
