Just making a pinned post with some extra information this will likely be edited over time.

First off sorry for leaving this place rotting for a while, life got in the way & I lacked the funds for some hardware for automation I want to run here.

Whats the plan?

Im currently writing a bot which will be able to parse the r/Opensignups subreddit to automate reposting stuff from there to !OpenSignups@lemmy.dbzer0.com , ETA on that is about a week as my Python is (very) rusty.

I should also now have time to begin writing a wiki section on PTs, hopefully over time this can become a comprehensive resource for newbies to the tracker scene.

The plan is for this community to become a fairly decent news source for the goings on in the PT world, for the time being much of the (actually noteworthy) news will be posted from reddit and hopefully will also have some user generated stories, advice and information from the community here on lemmy in due course!

Resource list.

https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers 4Chan affiliated wiki, I’m aware of the sites reputation but this is a good resource especially if you’re quite new.

https://inviteroute.github.io/sheet/ https://inviteroute.github.io/graph Two GitHub sites that give a clear idea of how you can progress through the more well known PTs.

https://files.catbox.moe/mifq21.png Translated comprehensive Chinese language graph on PTs including more niche ones.

https://hdvinnie.github.io/Private-Trackers-Spreadsheet/ comprehensive list of decent PTs with information about each one.

https://invite.icu/ Website to calculate how long it’ll take to get into the more elite PTs

Further tips.

I cannot state this enough use a separate email for PT activities and never share passwords between them, there have been occasions wherein a tracker has been compromised or a operator has gone rogue and has used account details to do malicious things.

If you are in Germany use a VPN or risk very nasty fines, anyone here will likely already know what im talking about but if you’re new and live within Germany do not torrent without a VPN, even PTs may pose a risk.

Check out the megathread and various resources on the main !Piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com community, absolutely fantastic resource.

Introducing: Arcadia (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) by Hansae@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/PrivateTrackers@lemmy.dbzer0.com

(Two month old post from the subreddit but whatever as its notable)

Hello all !

I am pleased to introduce Arcadia ! This is a torrent site framework (similar to Gazelle, Unit3d, and others) that aims at supporting any kind of content, with a very high level of organization.

Disclaimer: Arcadia is still in early development stages.

The main goals are :

content-agnostic and flexibility to properly organize anything
rust backend for high performance and low resource usage
client-side rendering for lower load on the server
image and icons first, for a nice user experience
beautiful user interface
good documentation

What has been implemented so far (not fully finished, but usable) :

user auth (invite, register, login)
master groups/title groups/edition groups/torrents creation
torrent requests
series
authors

Technology choices :

rust backend, actix web server
vuejs frontend, primevue component library
postgresql db, sqlx rust driver

A tracker (similar to ocelot, unit3d-announce, etc.) won't be developed. The goal is to use an existing one and chain it with Arcadia's backend. Very good, flexible and performant trackers already exist.

If you read this far, you are probably interested ! So here are

[github repositories](https://github.com/orgs/Arcadia-Solutions/repositories)

I am still looking for devs who would like to join the forces ! If you would like to help, hop on the discord server and let's chat !

Note: I am not planning on hosting anything, this is only a project to write some interface

BLU & ATH have enacted significant economy changes, BLU has seemingly decided to make their economy significantly more harsh, generally rewarding upload rather than seed time more than in the past and especially punishing smaller torrents when it comes to BON.

ATH has moved towards rewarding long seed times significantly more along with both ATH & BLU rewarding full disc seeding quite significantly. ATH Also now requires uploads to be granted access to the invite forums.

Not sure what to think of BLUs changes personally but ATHs look very positive! both have also implemented a buffer system to limit BON spending on upload.

Mass sending out emails to old account holders, even those who had been banned. Pretty odd behaviour and frankly seems like they've scared away half their user base via bad management and are now freaking as the tracker is dead.

Also indicates they're storing email address very long term, which is somewhat questionable to say the least.

Source: Several people in IRC chats & on Reddit.

Since JPTV announced it was shutting down on the 15th of next month (Source: JPTV Rizon IRC) PTP & BTN have launched an effort to try and get together as much JPTV exclusive content as possible including the quite large array of subtitles created by the JPTV userbase.

This should mean that TV series & films located on JPTV aren't lost.
