Louis Theroux spends time with the growing community of Israeli religious-nationalist settlers. Their settlements are illegal under international law, and they have been protected by the army, the police and the Israeli government.

Since the Hamas-led attacks on 7 October 2023, in which 1,200 Israelis were killed, there has been an acceleration in the establishment of settlements, with settlers pursuing a campaign of violence against local Palestinian communities.

What was once a fringe movement has now won support at the highest levels of government, with their supporters holding key positions in the cabinet and able to influence not only the role the military plays but also the future of this conflict.

Louis Theroux embeds himself in the West Bank, meeting prominent settlers - including the ‘godmother’ of the movement, Daniella Weiss - and travelling throughout the territory to understand the consequences of their activity. Louis also meets Palestinians whose lives have been impacted by settlers moving into their communities. As the world focuses on Gaza, where at least 50,000 Palestinians are estimated to have been killed by Israeli forces since 7 October, Louis discovers that the settlers are already making plans to move into that territory, too.

I must admit I mostly lurk there and never quite made the jump culturally to lemmygrad, but I do respect your opinions and the last few days are making me feel a bit insane and wanting an outside perspective. I'll explain and provide links for context

A longtime user got banned for bad behavior in live chat on hextube. That part isn't all that surprising. But then we got dueling impersonators one and two making meta posts about the ban and a notorious also-banned user he had conflicted with a long time ago (melina).

This was... mostly just annoying, clearly someone was doing a nasty bit, but mods just banned them both and the site moved on which I guess is fair enough.

Fast forward to today, and we have an account (not brand new, but not a longtime account either, only a few weeks old with limited post history) purporting to be our resident China guy (and China doomer, to some extent) from the news mega, posting a long winded story about going to xinjiang and getting 1984'd or whatever. It starts to feel like it could be a bit as it gets more and more absurd, but this user was always very serious from what I recall.

If this is a troll/psyop I guess it's a good one because this garbage is giving me a fucking headache. What do you grad'ers think is going on? Were any of these real or all impersonators (and relatedly who? melina?) Am I just too autistic to get the joke? Is this a fed psyop? what else could be going on?

"The Cutie Pox" is an Apple Bloom episode, which I for some reason decided to declare my favorite episode when I had only ever seen like six episodes of the show (it's not my favorite anymore); "May The Best Pet Win" introduces Rainbow Dash's pet Tank; "The Mysterious Mare Do Well" introduces a superhero which we will never see again in the show but will see again in the comics and other ancillary media; "Sweet and Elite" is not a particularly remarkable episode, it's got Rarity in Canterlot and Dathings made a YTP based on it in 2012, so there's that; "Secret of My Excess" is a Spike episode, in which he becomes a me me BIG boy; and finally there's "Hearth's Warming Eve" which introduces Equestria's national day, Hearth's Warming, which is usually seen as a "not-Christmas" in terms of its winter aesthetics, but in terms of the actual lore and themes can really be seen as sort of a weird amalgamation of different Canadian-Seppolandic holidays like Columbus Day, ("American") Thanksgiving, Canada Day, and Independence Day.

Hello users of hexbear and friends by now you will have noticed that the megathreads are featured again. During the recent challenges we wanted to see what the site is like with no pinned megathreads, a pinned megathread portal, in the style of this https://chapo.chat/post/4470784 and finally we are back to status quo.

Please give your thoughts on the megathread experiment in comments, if you liked on way over another, etc.

On the meta update, a previous admin was able to get the hexbear.net domain back, and we were able to established shared access. We are thankful for everything that they have done as this site would not exist without them, with this shared access the stress of site administration has been lessened.

In addition to the domain registrar we have been able to establish shared access for the server provider and are working on shared access to donation accounts (patreon/liberapay)

Payment has been reestablished from the donation account for the domain and servers, and we will be working towards making a financial transparency report that lays out how much donations we receive, what our costs are and what our current funds are. We are good for the rest of the year on domain/server payments.

I know this is a really confusing, but we are establishing a bitwarden to ensure that all the admins have access to the vital accounts going forward.

Please comment any questions, and we will do our best to answer, apologies to the person who commented on the previous post that we should do the megathread experiment when we are not undergoing a site crisis, which is valid.

TLDR: hexbear.net is back and patriots are in control and we will be enabling federation after redirecting chapo.chat, hexbear.chat, etc. to hexbear.net
