History

@MrSebSin@sh.itjust.works started this community and wrote:

About this community and how I post the comics… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. Of course these days you can read your favorite comics online instead of a newspaper, but I love the nostalgia of reading the daily comics. Anyway, one of my favorite current comics is Cyanide and Happiness and I will be posting the daily release from their website (https://explosm.net/) and a an extra or two randoms.

Don’t give them ideas.

Henry Stickmin, I hereby sentence you to death. You are to raise the money for the required medical procedure by slave work for the next 75 years.

I mean, they can't really force you to work in that case. Why wouldn't you just refuse to work? Or just hunger strike?

Only applies to prisoners of war.

[–] Furball@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

Easy, declare your prison cell a country and then declare war on the country your in

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 years ago

New war incoming?

*Points at the Constitution.

Ah but it doesn't violate the conventions if we convince people it's not torture but rather medical treatment!

They can force you to work.

Slavery is still legal in the US as a punishment under the 14 amendment

I get to work, for free?!

[–] radioactiveradio@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Just immediately buy a PS5 with death money.

Possibly dark question.

So if you kill yourself, your family has to pay for your funeral.

But if the city/state/country kills you, free burial?

[–] IonicFrog@lemmy.sdf.org 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If your body goes unclaimed then it's up to whatever local entity to dispose of it. Most places cremate.

If you want to watch a dark documentary about how dead people without a next of kin are handled. => https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342180/

Not for research? Like testing for car crashes?

[–] venoft@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Not without consent (before your death obviously..). Last time I checked I found that donating your body to science is surprisingly difficult.

[–] bingbong@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 years ago

No, they're turned into Halloween decorations

[–] XTornado@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Wait, did they ever do crash tests with real bodies!?
